What Is Reiki?
Reiki (ray-key) is a Japanese natural healing technique that is applied by laying on hands or through distant healing. The word Reiki is Japanese for ‘universal life energy’. This natural healing technique was founded by Mikao Usui in the early 20th century.
Reiki healing is a form of energy healing that believes universal and life force energy flows through us. Like all energy healing, Reiki believes that when that life force is in a state of dis-ease we create disease. Blockages or low energy flow caused by for example fear, grief, trauma, injury, toxic overload are examples of this dis-ease.
Reiki is regarded as a very gentle non-invasive form of energy healing that is useful to encourage relaxation and a state of being. Reiki was one of the first healing modalities I studied in the early 90’s. It has become one of the most common and widely known forms of energy healing today. Reiki is normally taught through different levels of attunement. Each level of reiki and attunement is normall taught over a minimum of 2 days. The Level 1 attunement is mostly about self-healing, then using your reiki skills on family friends. After a lot of practice and development of your Reiki skills you can move on to level 2 attunement. After practising your skills learned through level 2 you can practice as a reiki healer or reiki practitioner. Many reiki healers move on to Reiki Master Level or Reiki Teacher level once they have worked with a lot of reiki clients over many years.
Reiki is widely used to help reduce many different types of illnesses and disease by encouraging self-healing in the body. It is commonly used to reduce anxiety, stress. It is also widely used to help relieve pain and inflammation.
