Natural Makeup Or Toxic Makeup?

Natural Makeup or Toxic Makeup? What are the toxins in makeup, toxins in our cosmetics, and skincare products?

Why more women are turning to more organic and natural makeup, more natural skincare products.

Over 25 years ago I started to ditch many different types of cosmetics and skin care products for health reasons. During this period a wide range of extreme health challenges led me to become not just more educated about what we eat but we actually consume. I started to get more insight and information about products I had been using on my body and in the environment that was highly toxic. I remember when studying singing at college how I kept getting really ill in the recording studio I actually nearly passed out on more than one occasion. It wasn’t till years later did I discover that the isopropyl alcohol we used to clean the studio, was also used in makeup and was actually highly toxic. Especially for someone with my health challenges.

So I started on a journey for more natural makeup, more natural skincare products. Initially, it was very difficult to get natural makeup until mineral makeup came along. It was a lot easier to get natural skin care products or even make your own. I eventually took training in natural cosmetic making and could make up my own face creams and skin balms. It complemented my knowledge as an aromatherapist. I also stopped using normal deodorant sprays and normal roll deodorants that were also highly toxic.

Isopropyl Alchohol is actually considered toxic to humans even though it is widely used in cleaning, cosmetics, and other personal care products, eye, hair and nail products, aftershave lotions, and body care products. It is extremely absorbable through the skin and inhalation. MSDS Online

Parabens are commonly found in deodorants, makeup, moisturizer, shaving gel, shampoo, spray tan products. But according to Tasha Stoiber, PhD, Senior Scientist “scientific studies suggest that parabens can disrupt hormones in the body and harm fertility and reproductive organs, affect birth outcomes, and increase the risk of cancer. They can also cause skin irritation. Moreover, studies have detected parabens in nearly all urine samples taken from adults in the U.S., regardless of demographic (Ye 2006).”

“Given the endocrine disruption capacity and documented female and male reproductive harm, coupled with the potential for repeated lifelong exposure, it is clear that long-chain parabens (isobutyl-, butyl-, isopropyl- and propylparaben) should not be used in personal care or cosmetic products. Further, products can be made without these chemicals.” The Environmental Working Grou

Petroleum Distillates are manufactured in oil refineries commonly used in the production of mascara. For a while, I had been hearing a lot of positive things about not just their natural skincare range and natural makeup but the ethics and values of the company. They use a lot of natural ingredients in their products which are commonly used in both ayurvedic and herbal medicine.

At first, I purchased a Tropica natural foundation and natural lipstick, on this occasion a natural sheer foundation. I soon found myself becoming a Tropica Ambassador.

clean eating lifestyle

 Clean Eating

What is Clean Eating? And how can you start eating clean today?. Why is cleaning eating becoming increasingly popular and supposed to be so good for our health and wellbeing?

What Is Clean Eating?

Clean eating basically refers to eating foods that are in their more organic, raw, natural and whole state. Rather than eating adultered, processed, modified foods. Foods that are baked and/or cooked foods with trans fats, additives, refined or artificial sugars. So clean eating is not a faddy diet or weight loss program but a more natural way of eating. That naturally helps you become more healthy and often lose excess wait.

Clean Eating in many ways is the natural way our ancestors consumed their food. This is how we were supposed to eat before foods became genetically modified, sprayed with chemicals and pesticides, or injected with hormones. In-fact then most people would eat their food with minimum adulteration. They would pick fruits and nuts straight from the trees, dig up vegetables from the garden or land. And other than cooking or pickling there were no added artificial sweeteners or highly refined sugars.

Clean Eating Is healthy eating

A more clean diet helps you choose high-quality, high-nutrient, more raw and organic food sources. To support and encourage more optimal wellbeing. The purer, fresher and more raw our food is the more nutrients, energy, fuel it has to repair, restore and heal the body. Clean eating is great for the skin, it is a natural detoxifier. Unhealthy eating means our organs, digestive, and detox system has to work so much harder. With a cleaner diet, the body is in a more natural state of homeostasis.

Worldwide Addiction To Unhealthy Eating

Today people are dying, getting sick because of their unclean and unhealthy diet. Data from the 2009-10 National Health and Nutrition Examination showed evidence that 58% of the american diet was from ultra-processed food.According to the Guardian “UK families buy more ultra-processed food than any others in Europe, amounting to 50.7% of the diet. Germany comes second, on 46.2% and then Ireland on 45.9%. ” Salt, sugar, highly processed carbohydrates, and trans fats are causing so many health issues from obesity to diabetes, heart disease to overstimulation.

5 Easy Steps To Clean Eating

    1. Buy Fresh Produce – Choose as much fresh produce, loose produce that you can. Most clean food can be bought loosely, has no or very little packaging think about fruit, vegetables, raw nuts, raw seeds, fish, meat
    2. Clean Your Fresh Produce – Clean all fruit and vegetables as soon as you bring them home, before putting them in the fridge or cupboard. Simply 1 part white vinegar to 4 cups of water.
    3. Eat Organic When You Can – Choose organic when you can, you would be surprised how dirty and polluted many fresh foods are with chemicals, hormones, pesticides. Check out the dirty dozen foods that have the most pesticides and toxins, these are the ones you should try and by as organic when possible. If any of your fruit and vegetable were in a box or bag, check out the country they were grown. Some countries use more pesticides than others.
    4. Eat Raw When You Can – Your diet should contain as many raw fresh plant-based foods that you can eat. Except perhaps in the more winter months, when you eat should be eating lots of healthy hot soups, healthy stews, lentil casseroles without additives, grilled fish or meat. Prepare little snack boxes of fruit and vegetable crudites for snacks. Have a healthy juice or smoothie as part of your breakfast.
    5. Don’t Fry Your Food – Reduce your temptation to fry, especially using oils that turn into transfats, try to bake or grill when possible.

Clean eating in many ways is part of a more naturally healthy way of life. It helps you realign with what is important and healthy for you and your family’s wellbeing. With simple gradual changes in your diet and buying habits, you will soon be adopting a clean eating lifestyle.

Natural Flu Remedies for colds and influenza

Recommended Medical Treatments For Cold And Flu

According to doctors within the National Health Service here in the UK, there is no recommended medical treatment for colds. A cold is regarded as a mild viral infection that usually heals itself over a few weeks. But they do advise you to drink enough fluids, make sure you eat healthily, and get plenty of rest. For symptoms, of a blocked nose, decongestant sprays are recommended. For a sore throat, they suggest gargling with salt water and using menthol sweets.

Recommended treatments for flu by the NHS here in the UK are to get plenty of rest, sleep, stay warm, and be hydrated with plenty of fluids. The NHS does recommend the use of paracetamol or ibuprofen to reduce any fevers or temperatures. And to make sure you do what you can to not spread it to others. Natural Remedies For Colds

If you prefer a more natural, less toxic, and fewer drugs approach. In the world of tradition and holistic medicine, we treat the body from a holistic perspective. So it is not just about treating the symptom but it is about reducing or eliminating the cause of the illness or disease which today is usually STRESS.

We look at the whole body and use natural remedies to support the whole body back into balance. In herbalism or naturopathy, this often includes helping support the body’s own natural healing and immune system. There are many alternative and natural remedies used to alleviate and help treat the common symptoms of colds and flu.  Such as naturopathy, herbal remedies, essential oils and foods that heal or are packed with nutrients.

Most Common Remedies For Colds And Flu

The most commonly used natural remedy for colds and flu in the West is a hot honey lemon drink. In the East ginger is often used for these types of ailments.

So hot ginger and lemon drink are becoming increasingly popular, and back into fashion.

The Medical Medium suggests Lemon Honey Ginger Water for many things including colds, flu, and sore throat.

  • Garlic is widely used at helping fight many viruses and bacteria. Medical research has demonstrated Garlic (Allium sativum) when crushed has strong antimicrobial properties due to allicin (diallylthiosulfinate). In one clinical study, we see how how the allicin in crushed garlic “Kills Human Lung Pathogenic Bacteria, Including MDR Strains, as a Vapor.”

When you have a cold or flu, a sore throat or cough can prevent you from getting the deep rest your body needs.

Over The Counter Natural Remedies For Flu

In holistic and traditional medicine again we treat flu holistically. And like mainstream medicine, we encourage the person to give the body enough time to heal and rest.

If you are someone who struggles to relax and rest, this Listen And Nurture Your Body guided meditation will help.

We also suggest you have plenty of fluids with hot drinks and healthy soups. And the use of a variety of natural remedies including essential oils to prevent, reduce and support the healing of influenza.

In a clinical study, Protective essential oil attenuates influenza virus infection. On Guard  is one of my favourite essential oil blends was shown to have an antiviral effect on a novel H1N1 influenza virus.

You can also use a variety of essential oils that reduce symptoms of flu, reduce muscle aches and pains,  fevers, and chills.

Pure lavender essential oil added to your bath to help will help relax and soothe achy muscles. Lavender oil is also used to help take the temperature down in young children.

Eucalyptus and rosemary are other great essential oils that can be used to reduce symptoms of flu and colds. But eucalyptus is very strong for the bath and skin, so should be used sparingly. Eucalyptus and rosemary are not suitable for children or if you are pregnant. Rosemary should be avoided if you suffer from epilepsy or high blood pressure.

Vitamin C Supplement For Colds And Flu

Supplements For Colds And Flu

Vitamin C  and Zinc are widely recommended to boost the immune system for colds and flu so is Echinacea. If you have been recently been run down a multi-vitamin and mineral is often helpful. In some studies, Vitamin D supplementation has been shown to act as a defense against acute respiratory tract infections. And to improve the immune system in the early stages of influenza. It is interesting that most of us suffer colds and flu in the darker, winter months when we have lower exposure to natural vitamin D.

As you can see there are a variety of natural remedies that can help treat cold and flu, above is certainly not exhaustive. But like all illnesses and dis-ease, we have to address the reasons we get sick in the first place.

The disease is a state of dis-ease, mentally, physically, and emotionally.

Are you pushing yourself too hard mentally, emotionally, or physically? Have you been getting enough sleep and rest? How much balance do you have in your life, remember all work and no play doesn’t just lower your mood it can increase anxiety and stress levels.

Choosing The Right Health Coach For You

how to chose the right health coach for you

How To Choose The Right Health Coach For You

How do you choose the right health coach when there are so many health and wellness coaches to choose from? How do you decide on the perfect health coach for you?  The right wellness coach with the right qualification, the right experience and skills for your needs?

As a high consumer of healers, therapists, and coaches over the last 30 years. I have learned a lot about choosing the right health professional for my needs. Too many times in my life I invested in a health or wellness practitioner that just didn’t have the right level of expertise or knowledge for what I needed.

Health Coach - How To Choose The Right Health Coach For You by The World of Health

As a holistic therapist, a coach and a healer myself, I know too well how hard it can be to find the right practitioner or coach. Even more confusing for the consumer or clients who has very little knowledge in this area.

One of the big problems today is health coaching in many ways has become a very loose, overused even distorted term. So many people simply labeling them self health and wellness coaches today but with no training or expertise.

Another big issue in this industry is a dramatic increase over the last ten years in very poor quality courses and training. Especially when the holistic, health and wellness market has become so saturated with fast track training and online training courses often written and provided by people who are not even properly qualified never mind experts in the field.

So here is a list of recommended suggestions and questions that I have found helpful in helping you make the right choice of health coach for you. A few things you can do to reduce the risk of investing a lot of money on the wrong coach or coaching program.

Ready To Live A More Holistic Life

5 Things To Consider When Choosing The Right Health Coach

  1. Decide What You Need With: make a list, be really specific of what you need help with, if you have a specific health challenge that you need extra support, advice or help with, add that to your list.
  2. Be Clear On What You Want To Achieve with your coach. Your vision or dream you would like to achieve, the more specific about what you want and need the easier it is to choose the right wellness coach that is the right fit for you. Through the years I have met so many wellbeing practitioners who assumed and would tell me I was their perfect ideal client. But the reality was for various reasons they were not my ideal coach or ideal therapist for a variety of reasons they couldn’t see but I could. Sometimes you need to go to different practitioners for different things. A good coach will often recommend you to a more suitable practitioner when required.
  3. What Type Of Coach Do You Need? Maybe a life coach who is highly motivated who will always make you highly accountable? Or maybe a more spiritual coach who is more awakened and or intuitive, who will help awaken and empower you? It can often be a good idea to choose a wellbeing coach who has had the same sort of challenges you have. There is something very powerful about being coached by someone who has been there, done it got the T-shirt. They are not only more compassionate an experienced to help you. But they can often help you see your challenges from a different perspective especially if they have moved on or healed from that issue
  4. Choose A Suitably Qualified Coach in the area you need. Check out their level of qualification and expertise. Sadly today there is a huge difference in the quality of content and standardisation in training today. Some training schools give out health and wellbeing certificates in as little as a few days. When the rest of us offer training that normally takes 6 months to a few years.  If you have a serious or an usual health condition you may want to choose someone more experienced, more qualified in a particular area. For example choose a Health Coach who has  a degree in Nutrition or a Health Coach who is a qualified Dr. As an avid learner I have enrolled in many types of training and just because something says it is Diploma level while other states a Certificate rarely represents the level of learning or amount of hours. Some training I have taken a few years at university level while other types of add on training I have done over a few weekends. I have lost count of the number of health practitioners I have come across claiming to be highly experienced in certain areas who struggle to know even the basics. So don’t be afraid about checking out your coaches levels of qualification or training school  The last thing you want to do is go to someone who knows less than you, who has less skills in the area you need support with. That is why we at The World Of Health only share health and wellness blogs written or approved by fully qualified health and wellness coaches and therapists.
  5. Choose A Health Or Wellness Coach that aligns to your values, your ethics. You can learn a lot about a coach by what they say in and about their business. What they write about, what they share on their social media pages. You can learn what is important especially if its’ their client’s interests or just their own success. Check out their testimonials see what their clients are saying. Choosing the right coach for you is easier when you identify their values, their ethics.

Ready To Live A More Holistic Life

You Choose What Type Of Wellbeing Practitioner Is Right For You

The key thing to remember when choosing any type of health and wellness practitioner, life coach, therapist, healer or counsellor. Is that you choose them don’t let them manipulate or cajoal you into choosing them if it doesn’t feel right. They may believe they are the right person for you. But only you will know if they are the right expert for you. Sadly some types of coaches are into high persuasion selling which hits on a client’s weaknesses. It is your health, your time, your investment, so invest in someone you want to work with not someone you feel obliged to work with.

Sleep Therapy – How To Treat Insomnia The Natural And Holistic Way

Why Sleep Therapy is becoming more popular and effective at treating so many insomnia and sleep disorders today. Sleep Problems is a major problem for millions of people around the world. In the UK it has become a growing problem in not just adults but in teenagers and children.

In England alone, NHS statistics showed sleep disorder admissions for under-16s had tripled in just a few years in 2017 in-fact nearly 10,000 child admissions for sleep problems.

Why Sleep Therapy Is So Needed Today

In 2011 a survey by the Mental Health Foundation ” said that a survey of the nation’s sleep habits found that 30% are severely sleep-deprived, putting them more at risk of mental health and relationship issues.” Sleep Problems in the UK, NHS website.

According to an online survey by Chemist4U.com and a global survey by Philips in 2018. Brits roughly get approx 34.5 minutes less sleep each night than most other countries around the world. Working out at about 8.76 days of less sleep a year. One of the reasons sleep therapy is more needed than ever.

Main Causes Of Sleep Issues Today

The main cause of sleep disorders today is stress and over-stimulation. Most of us spend more time engaged in mental doing, mental ruminating, mental processing than anything else. Even children spend a large chunk of their day hooked into addictive and distracting technology, obsessive thoughts. Rather than living in a more natural state of being.

We have become so disconnected from our natural innate way of being that we are very disconnected from our body. And how our body naturally speaks to us. More and more of us are living further and further away from nature. To live and work in toxic, concrete, busy buildings, frying our brains and bodies with surges of EMF radiation, day and night. 3 Essential Oils For Every First Aid Kit

Essential Oils For Every First Aid Kit -

3 Essential Oils For Every Home Or Travel First Aid Kit.

Why these 3 essential oils are so common and extremely versatile in helping treat many minor ailments, symptoms, and injury. In this article, I share why as a qualified aromatherapist for over 20 years I choose these natural remedies to replace many over the counter medication.

So What Are Essential Oils?

Essential oils are the concentrated oils of the plants they are extracted from. Essential oils come from a variety of plants, leaves, bark, shrubs, fruits, and flowers. Pure essential oils are unadulterated oils that are regarded as having various therapeutic health and wellness benefits. They are used widely by the pharmacological and cosmetic industries.

A Guide To Essential Oils For Home Use And Family Use by Qualified Aromatherapist Eileen Burns

Cosmetic And Pharmacological Use Of Essential Oils

Various research has demonstrated the benefits of certain essential oils to treat bacterial infections. In the study –  Antimicrobial activity and chemical composition of some essential oils  “Origanum onites recorded antimicrobial activity against all test bacteria, and was strongest against Staphylococcus aureus.’

According to Science Direct –A status review on the medicinal properties of essential oils “Essential oils are prescribed for a variety of health problems by traditional systems of medicine, all over the world. Various pharmaceutical and biological activities like antibacterial, antifungal, anticancer, antimutagenic, antidiabetic, antiviral, anti-inflammatory, and antiprotozoal properties are assigned to them.”

Now as someone who had chronic health challenges from a young age I began to use essential oils to support my health in my early twenties. I used essential oils to boost my immune system, as an aid to treat bacterial and viral infections to treat a bad burn, reduce a high temperature, relieve toothache and cramping and so much more.

Safe Use Of Essential Oils

Now when using essential oils therapeutically for your health and wellbeing. It is important to use only pure essential oils of the highest grade. Sadly not all of these natural oils are unadulterated and of the highest quality. That is why I choose doTERRA oils or Neals Yard Organics.

Important: Do NOT consume or apply essential oils undiluted directly on the skin the only exception is lavender in the case of a burn. Essential oils are always diluted in a carrier or massage oil, added to bathwater, used in inhalation or applied to a compress. No matter the quality of the extraction of these oils they can burn the skin and can cause serious harm in certain situations. Always check instructions for correct use and dilution of essential oils and seek professional advice from a fully qualified aromatherapist.

Natures First Aid Kit

Pure essential oils are not only a natural alternative to many common ailment medication. Used to treat a variety of different ailments and injury. For the backpacker or executive flyer who needs minimal luggage, these 3 tiny bottles are worth their weight in gold

3 Essential Oils That Should Be In Every First Aid Kit

Lavender

Lavender Oil is extracted or distilled from the lavender herb plant Lavandula latifolia . Both the flower and the oil of lavender are actually used to make medicine. Lavender’s extremely versatility is probably why it is the most common therapeutic essential oil used today.

Lavender oil in the right dosage and dilution can be applied or inhaled by most children and adults. But should not be used on a newborn. In another blog, I explain in more detail why lavender should be part of every home first aid kit.

Lavender is commonly used as an aid for bites, bruises, headaches, muscle inflammation, sprains, and stings. Lavender can be applied directly to the skin in case of a burn and can help reduce scarring.

Lavender’s analgesic properties help reduce inflammation and pain. Lavender has a deeply soothing, relaxing and gently uplifting scent which makes it helpful for insomnia, anxiety, depression, and stress. My mother and siblings use lavender to help relieve high temperatures in their children.

Like other essential oils, Lavendula has a wide range of psychological benefits. Lavender can have a tremendous effect when inhaled on the olfactory and limbic systems.

Lavender has been shown various research as a possible treatment in some psychological and neurological conditions. It is well-reputed for its benefits on the mood and emotions. Lavender is one of the safest oils you can use on children and those who are highly sensitive. As long as you follow the recommended guidelines by a qualified aromatherapist.

Tea- Tree

Tea tree oil has been demonstrated to have broad-spectrum antimicrobial and ant-viral benefits against Herpes Simples Virus and treating wound infections. Tea-tree is a powerful antiseptic, antifungal and anti-microbial agent that can be used to clean wounds, used in skincare and as a cleaning aid. Add a few drops to a spritzer bottle of warm water to clean surfaces.

Tea-Tree is widely used as an antifungal against candida by many naturopaths. It is also used as a treatment aid for nail infections, dandruff, and acne by cosmetic and pharmacological companies. Tea-Tree was used by the Australian army and navy in world war 11 as a germicide. It has also been medically researched on its uses in alleviating eczema

Peppermint

Peppermint oil is widely used by the pharmacological industry as an antispasmodic for the treatment of Irritable Bowel Syndrome. It is also widely used in a variety of products used to help reduce headaches, migraines and even neuralgia type issues.

Peppermint like tea-tree has good anti-bacterial against various strains of bacteria. It also has demonstrated to have ant-viral properties and ant-fungal activity against Candida.

Peppermint is extremely cooling on the skin, it is widely used by the cosmetic, confectionery and food industry. A few drops of peppermint added to a water spritzer bottle makes a perfect cooling spray. Add a few drops of peppermint to a foot bath or added to a base cream to cool down warm achy feet.

Benefits Of Essential Oils

The great thing about essential oils is they are all from mother nature’s cupboard, so less risk of allergies and side-effects. You can make up your own required dosage or dilution of application which is ideal for kids. The ability to mix and blend different essential oils and use them in a variety of ways; add to a bath, footbath, compress, add to a carrier oil, base cream or balm or even inhale.

They are in small discrete easy to pack bottles so take-up minimal luggage space.

Opportunity to save money by replacing a long list of over the counter medicines that you rarely use, but need just in case. With natural remedies that are much more versatile and can often have a much longer shelf-life.

There are so many other essential oils to enjoy some of my favourites include Eucalyptus, Geranium, Frankincense, Lemon, Sandalwood and Ylang Ylang.

Eileen Burns is a qualified aromatherapist and holistic therapist who has taught aromatherapy for over 18 years.

Ayurvedic Medicine – The Origins of Ayurveda

Ayurvedic Medicine – The Origins of Ayurveda

Ayurvedic Medicine

Ayurvedic Medicine is one of the ancient forms of traditional medicine which is in practice from over 6,000 B.C. Indian mythological texts, the Vedas refer to this traditional medicine and its importance.

Ayurveda focuses on the entire body healing with the help of detoxification. This eastern medicine’s main focus is on boosting the immune system, the energy systems through natural remedies. This world’s oldest holistic healing therapy is believed to bring balance between the mind, body, and spirit for better health.

Ayurvedic Medicine As An Alternative To Western Medicine

Ayurvedic medicine is considered as an alternative to many western medicines and treatments. When in fact ayurvedic medicine is a holistic treatment that can be used alongside modern medicine. In the USA, Ayurvedic medicine treatments are considered a type of CAM (complementary and alternative medicine). The origins of the vedas and ayurvedic treatment are completely holistic.

*******

How the Vedas and Ayurveda relate to each other?

Ayurveda has its roots originated earlier than the 8th century. The Vedas is the ancient Hindu religious textbooks that deal in healthcare techniques, astrology, spirituality, politics, human behaviour etc.

Altogether there are four Vedas, the Rig Veda, Yajur Veda, Sama Veda, and Atharva Veda. Each of these Vedas deals in specific things with relation to society and living.

The Atharva Veda is an ancient book that deals with ancient medical practices. It has a details description of Ayurveda and various types of Ayurvedic treatments using plants with medicinal values.

All these books were written in Sanskrit which was later translated into Chinese, Greek, and many other languages.

How is Ayurvedic Medicine linked with your life energy?

The yogic theory believes that when the mind, body, and soul connect with each other in harmony, it brings good health. Meditation,   Relaxation and balance helps to keep them working harmoniously.

It is also believed that the human body is made up of five basic elements like air, fire, water, earth, and space. These elements combine together in pairs and form life energy or doshas which controls the working of your body. There are three major types of dosha as mentioned in Ayurveda. They are:

  • Vata dosha is a combination of Space and Air.
  • Pitta dosha consists of the two vital elements of fire and water.
  • Kapha dosha consists of elements of water and earth.

These doshas control different functions of the body. Whenever there is any disbalance in these doshas, a person falls into dis-ease, becomes sick. An Ayurveda practitioner will first understand a person’s dosha and recommend a specific treatment to balance it.

The Origins Of Ayurvedic Medicine - Using Ayurveda For Better Health and Wellness

What Happens If The Doshas Get Imbalanced?

Vata Dosha

Vata Dosha is believed to the strongest among the three doshas. This traditional medicine theory underlines the fact that Vata Dosha controls cell division which is the fundamental of life. It controls your bowel movements and other organs of the body like heart, blood flow, etc. Vata Dosha also controls your mind and breathing rate.

There are various reasons for which disbalance occurs in its functioning. Like unhealthy and improper diet, less sleep, fear, grief, etc. Once there is disbalance, there are high chances to develop conditions like heart disease, blood pressure, stress, anxiety, and even rheumatoid arthritis. Ayurveda deals with these health issues and offers natural remedy with the use of herbal medicines, detoxification techniques, etc.

Pitta Dosha

When there is a problem with regards to your digestion, it is believed that there is a disbalance in Pitta Dosha. The energy center in Pitta Dosha controls your metabolism. Once it functions properly it helps to break down the food with the help of various digestive hormones.

If you are suffering from digestion problems, acidity or constipation, it means there is a disbalance in Pitta Dosha. If Pitta Dosha stops functioning properly there are high chances for these conditions to develop. When you eat too much junk food, drink less water or expose yourself to excess heat, you are likely to develop this problem. Ayurveda deals with these health issues and offers a natural remedy to treat them.

Kapha Dosha

Kapha Dosha, which is a combination of water and earth, controls your muscle growth and body strength. It also gives you stability, makes your immune system strong and keeps your weight under control.

An unhealthy lifestyle like improper sleep, eating too much sugar and fast food, etc. can disrupt it. In case it gets disturbed, patients are seen to develop many health issues like cancer, diabetes, obesity, etc. The natural herbal healing techniques used in Ayurveda can help solve the root of these problems by rebalancing Kapha Dosha.

Ready To Live A More Holistic Life

How Do You Become An Ayurvedic Medicine Practitioner?

Ayurvedic medicine practitioners are called Vaidya which is a Sanskrit word. In English it means physician. If you wish to learn Ayurveda and become a Vaidya there are various approved training programs.

The course-curriculum of an Ayurvedic Medicine Practitioner covers a detailed study of dosha, yoga, meditation, and various herbal treatments. It is important you choose a properly recognized accredited ayurvedic medicine training program in this area.

What are the different branches in Ayurveda?

Ayurveda medicine has eight different branches of treatment. They are listed below:

  • Internal medicine or Kayachikitsa – It deals with the overall treatment of the body with the use of herbal oils, lotions, and creams.
  • Treatment for children or Baala Chikitsa – It focuses on all treatment with regards to a child’s development.
  • Psychiatry treatment or Graha Chikitsa – It focused to cure various mental problems with the help of yoga, meditation, and deep breathing.
  • Urdhyaanga Chikitsa – This branch of Ayurveda emphasis to cure health issues with regards to eyes, ears, nose, and throat.
  • Surgery or Shalyaroga Chikitsa – Deals with any kind of surgery using surgical instruments.
  • Toxicology or Damstra Chikitsa – Deals to remove toxic elements from your body.
  • Geriatric or Jara Chikitsa – Deals with various therapies on anti-aging.
  • Reproductive health or Vajjikaran Chikitsa – Deals with infertility and sexual health.

Benefits of Ayurvedic Medicine

Centuries ago there was no such thing as cosmetic or modern medicine. People only had access to natural medicine. Ayurvedic treatments focus on eliminating the root of these health issues. Using nature and a state of balance. It can be a slow but effective process to cure various illnesses using natural medicine.

We all know plants have medicinal properties. Ayurveda uses those medicinal properties to give relief from different illnesses without the usual side effects associated with modern medicine. That is why I practice ayurvedic 3medicine.

holistic wellness 5 principles of holistic wellbeing today

5 Pillars Of Holistic Wellness

Learn the main 5 Pillars of Holistic Wellness, what holistic wellness and wholistic wholeness mean today. Learn why the 5 Pillars of Holistic Wellness is the foundation for optimal health, happiness, and growth.

Holistic And Wholistic Wellness

The term holistic stems from the theory of holism “system of therapeutics, especially outside the mainstream of scientific medicine, as [homeopathy], naturopathy or chiropractic, and usually involving nutritional measures.” The definition of holism was introduced by Jan Smuts in 1926 as “the whole is different from the sum of its parts.” Now although both holistic and wholistic in origins have different meanings, most modern-day definition of holistic is wholistic. In holistic wellbeing, it basically means different elements of our body and way of life have to be in balance so we are whole. Holistic wellness comes from a natural state of balance and being. Balance in the 5 Pillars of Holistic Wellness.

We have a much greater capacity to flourish and grow, to endure life’s challenges and stressors with ease. Because if all of these foundations are strong and connected. Our energy force, our wellbeing is more likely to flow.

Mental wellbeing is what maintains positive mental health. A healthy mindset is our mental resilience against life’s stress and challenges. Enhanced mental health helps us make healthy choices, recognise our value, our worth, and our potential. Good mental wellbeing increases our ability to share our gifts and skills with the world with ease. It helps us maintain healthier boundaries and good communication in our relationships. The ability to be fully in the moment is a useful way to encourage healthier mental wellbeing. You can learn how to be more in the present moment, instead of ruminating over the past or future by learning how to meditate.

Emotional wellbeing contributes to healthy self-esteem, self-worth, self-confidence, and good emotional intelligence. Positive emotional wellbeing helps us cope and thrive in our relationships. Daniel Goleman, suggests there are 5 elements of EQ and that includes empathy, self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, and social skills.

holistic wellness 5 pillars of holistic wellbeing

Physical Wellbeing relates to a healthy balanced and optimal functioning body. It is not just about being disease-free. But relates to our bodies’ energy levels, endurance, and flexibility. Physical wellness is our physical lifestyle, the ability to sleep, eat,  perform, be free from addiction and medication and be resilient against stress.More traditional forms of wellbeing such as Natural  Medicine or Ayurvedic Medicine, Naturopathy and Good Nutrition can help support the physical elements of wellness. Avoid as many toxins in your environment and your food as you can to support a healthier body, choose organic food and organic medicine when you can.

Spiritual wellbeing is the ability to experience meaning and purpose in life through a connection to one’s self, or a power greater than oneself. It is known to be one of the most powerful sources of strength, inspiration, and motivation on the journey of recovery and healing. Spiritual strength is often extremely personal and means different things to different people. But the ability to access the self,  tap into our Soul’s Essence can help us connect with a more spiritual way of being. It certainly helps lower anxiety, stress and depression levels. And can help cultivate more gratitude and positivity.

Social wellbeing is social inclusion and social belonging; Supported by, connected and in equilibrium with the society or world you live in. Social wellbeing can be linked to values, traditions, and lifestyle. Any social aspect that supports greater wellbeing. Your friends, family, community, the groups you are part of, your culture, religion, place of education or place of work. That is why feeling as if you belong to certain tribes can be very supportive in our mental, emotional, physical and spiritual wellbeing.

That is why so many people today are trending towards more holistic approaches, moving towards holistic or alternative medicine instead of more contemporary medicine. Which too often only focuses on the physical symptoms, physical or mental individual parts.

Benefits Of Natural Medicine

Natures Medicine versus Modern Medicine

Benefits Of Natural Medicine – The World Of Health

Many Benefits Of Natural Medicine

The benefits of Natural medicine or naturopathic medicines also known as natural remedies,  natures own medicine cabinet used to prevent or cure different types of diseases and illnesses.

Natural medicine is a traditional medicine that allows the body to heal through its own natural process. It involves treatments like holistic therapies, acupuncture, massage, exercise or the consumption of herbs and nutritional food. It is merely a loose set of medicines and treatment which is not always clinically or scientifically researched or a part of biomedicine.

Natural medicine can also be termed as holistic medicine mainly because it treats the individual in its entirety rather than just focusing on the symptom or disease.

The holistic perspective considers individuals as a whole as it strongly supports the idea that in order to achieve optimal holistic wellness, one needs to consider body, mind, emotions, and spirit as well.

Natural Medicine versus Modern Medicine:

DISADVANTAGES OF MODERN MEDICINE

Ever since the evolution of medical science, several medicines have been devised to treat different types of illnesses. Changes in medical treatment have helped manage and give immediate relief to many chronic and life-threatening conditions. But there are a lot of issues with this model of medicine.

  1. It is often quite expensive than natural medicine.
  2. Modern medicine tends to have a lot of side effects.
  3. Many people are put on certain medications for a long period of time which often increases the risk of withdrawal symptoms.
  4. There has been an increase in dependency issues on certain medications that give instant relief.
  5. Modern medicine helps treat the symptoms not the source of the disease.
  6. It is not aimed at preventing dis-ease or the source of the problem, dis-harmony or nutritional deficiencies.

BENEFITS OF NATURAL MEDICINE:

Herbal medicine or natural medicine has taken a backseat irrespective of the fact that it has a lot of benefits in the short and the long run. Some of the advantages of natural medicine are mentioned below:

  1. Natural Medicine is often more cost-effective.
  2. They support balance, many help boost the immune system.
  3. It can help overcome nutritional deficiencies and support healing at the same time.
  4. Generally, Natural Medicine has very few side effects, it doesn’t contain fillers.
  5. The raw materials required to create natural medicine are readily available in nature. They do not need to be adulterated.

Natural Medicine, Natures Medicine Cabinet The benefits of Natural Medicine or naturopathic medicines also known as natural remedies,  natures own medicine cabinet used to prevent or cure different types of diseases and illnesses.

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN NATURAL AND ALTERNATIVE MEDICINE:

Many people believe that natural medicine and alternative medicine are the same. However, in reality, they are different from each other. They fall under the same umbrella of CAM i.e. complementary and alternative medicine but they are not the same.

The type of treatment or therapies involved under the two types of medicines is the same but the way they are carried out is different.

Under natural medicine or complementary medicine, traditional western medicines are also used to help cure or prevent disease.

However, under alternative medicine, traditional western medicines are not involved and treatments like acupuncture, aromatherapy, massage, mind and body therapies are mainly used.

POPULAR FORMS OF NATURAL AND ALTERNATIVE MEDICINES:

Many different forms of natural and alternative medicines exist that have been used for centuries by our ancestors. Some of the most popular forms that still exist are mentioned below:

1. Acupuncture

Acupuncture is derived from Chinese medicine. It is a treatment that is used to relieve pain and support the flow of Qi through the body through thin needles that are inserted into the human body.

2. Homeopathy

Homeopathy is a form of natural medicine that is based on the idea that the human body heals itself. It involves the diluted use of different herbs and minerals that can help treat different diseases.

Dandelion & Burdock Natural Remedies for digestive issues, natural medicine

3. Naturopathy

The naturopathy structure lies in the fact that manmade drugs and medications should be avoided as much as possible to avoid side effects. It promotes the idea that many illnesses can be cured by using nature, controlling diet and making healthy lifestyle choices, using natural approaches such as healthy eating, managing stress, using massage and exercise a part of life.

4. Massage

Massage is the healthy manipulation of tissues in the body. Various techniques are used to ease out the stress and pain in different parts of the body with the help of hands, fingers, elbows, knees, etc.

5. Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is the therapeutic use of pure essential oils. Extracts from bark, flowers, plants, fruits, and resins. Essential oils can be inhaled, added to the bath, applied, and massaged into the skin.

6. Ayurveda

Ayurveda is a century-old treatment that exists in the world today. It is based on the principle that health and wellness can be achieved by creating a balance between body and mind. It is based on different dosha body types.

7. Food As Medicine

In many ways, the right food can be natural medicine, natural healing. So many foods in their natural raw state, have healing and immune-boosting properties. A healthy diet fuelled by the right nutrients from our food not only treats and helps heal many illnesses but can also help prevent disease. So many modern diseases are caused by nutrient deficiencies.
